Visitors to Trinity Laban in Greenwich will no doubt have discovered an unusual musical object in the courtyard. This is The Harmonic Canon, an instrument and piece of public art created by Marcus Vergette which I am composing a piece for. A project by composer Dominic Murcott with percussion virtuosos 'arx duo'. The Harmonic Canon is a pair of 1/2 tonne bronze bells tuned a semi-tonne apart mad by Marcus Vergette. They were designed using a computer process called finite element analysis with the higher bell having a prominent minor third and the lower a prominent major third.
